Updated February 2010

British Triathlon Membership.

We recommend that all Harriers who wish to compete in triathlon and duathlon join British Triathlon.  There are many benefits – including lower race entry fees, handbook with events directory, personal accident cover, public liability cover racing and training, free legal claims service etc.

Harriers Tri Kit.

We still have the race kit tank tops and shorts although we are running out of some sizes.  Check out what’s available – it is in with the running kit. – see Katarina or Christine.

We are also looking into getting some short sleeved (warmer?) cycling tops in a similar design to the ‘race kit’.  These will be better for training and for colder weather Triathlons, Duathlons and Sportives etc.   We expect them to cost about £35 but the price may come down with a good sized order    We will probably  put up a sheet on the noticeboard so you can post your requirements. Alternatively e-mail me on richardpiron@hotmail.co.uk.  We will be asking for a hefty deposit at the time of ordering.

Triathlon Championships 2010

This year we have decided to have 3 race distances counting toward the championships – 1.   Sprint.   May 2nd Bedford Sprint

2.  .Olympic  July 25th (Milton Keynes – Big Cow)

3.   Middle Distance  September 4th  Vitruvian – Rutland water (early entry advised!)

There will be age graded winners m/f for each race and overall winners m/f.

Swim Sessions.

Continue at Bedford High School for Girls – Saturday mornings 7 til 8.  We have 4 lanes including a ‘beginner / improver’ lane.  The cost is just £3 per session (pay on the door)

This summer we are likely to have a full break during the school holidays (End July to early  September)

Box End park swimming will resume at the end of April or when the water temp. Reaches 11 centigrade.

2010 events.

Ironman Nice (France) on 27th June dominates the first half of the year as 20 – 25 Harriers are signed up.  However, like the running calendar there is a whole host of events, many of which are local, to consider.  Bedford (The Bedford Classic) is hosting the Olympic distance British Championships on August 15th.  Be good to get a good Harriers turn out for this.
